In the last days Twist operational activities took place. Twist (Tidal Wave in Southern Tyrrhenian Sea) is the international exercise on the tsunami risk organized by the Department of Civil Protection.
Theatre of the exercise scenarios during the first day was the town of Amalfi, where, among the other activities, rescue operations for people with disabilities (physical, sensory or mental disabilities) were simulated, in order to verify the evacuation procedures for this category of people.

115-for-deaf, the system implemented by IES Solutions allowing deaf people to reach the 115 service, was used during the first part of the simulation scenario, where a deaf person trapped inside the Amalfi town hall offices contacted, via 115-for-deaf, the Fire Brigades, which reached the trapped person and put it to safety.

The second and third part of the intervention scenario were based respectively on the evacuation of a person with mobility impairment from the Amalfi town hall and the evacuation of people with mental and sensory disabilities from the Day Centre for disabled people in Amalfi.

Besides checking evacuation procedures for vulnerable groups, the exercise has been useful to test the involvment of vulnerable people as civil protection first operators.
