Net4voice is a European project, funded under the Lifelong Learning Programme, that has been investigating how speech recognition can support learning in Schools, Universities and Further Education in the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. 2010 Call for proposals — Pilot project on development of prevention activities to halt desertification in Europe (2010/C 110/04).
The European Commission, Directorate-General for Environment, Protection of Water Environment Unit, is launching a Call for Proposals with the aim of identifying three to five projects eligible for financial support, promoting action on desertification and droughts in pilot river basins, and contributing to the exchange of best practices at the local level on four issues, such as conservation of rainwater and surface water, alternative forms of irrigation, water saving/water efficiency measures and crops consuming less water. The pilot projects are demonstration projects aimed at testing specially designed technologies, techniques or practices. They will have to demonstrate the potential of water saving for improving human and environmental conditions in different regions of the European Union, using low-cost approaches. Commission to boost research and innovation by making it easier to apply for and manage EU grants
. The European Commission has unveiled a plan to simplify the procedures for taking part in EU-funded research projects. The overall aim is to make participation transparent and attractive to the best researchers and innovative companies in Europe and beyond. Ensuring European research realises its full potential is crucial to the EU’s Europe 2020 Strategy, given the need to consolidate economic recovery and develop new sources of growth and jobs to replace those lost in the crisis. Commission launches public consultation on future of cultural and creative industries.The European Commission launches an online public consultation today aimed at unlocking the full potential of Europe’s cultural and creative industries. Galileo OS SIS ICD. The European Commission grants free access to the technical information on the future Galileo open service signal, i.e. the specifications manufacturers and developers need to process data received from satellites. The updated “Galileo Open Service Signal-In-Space Interface Control Document” informs receiver manufacturers, application developers and service providers on how to use the future Galileo system and what they can expect in terms of performance. This information is free-of-charge. Entrepreneurship education key for EU 2020 strategy. Entrepreneurship education is increasingly considered key to promoting a more competitive and entrepreneurial workforce. Fondo nazionale innovazione: proposte entro il 15 luglio.
Il Minsitero dello Sviluppo Economico ha fissato al 15 luglio, ore 17, il termine definitivo, per la presentazione delle proposte.La misura ha l’obiettivo di individuare uno o più soggetti autorizzati allo svolgimento dell’attività creditizia per la realizzazione di portafogli di finanziamenti da erogare alle piccole e medie imprese a fronte di progetti innovativi basati sull’utilizzo economico di brevetti. Il Fondo Nazionale per l’Innovazione, promosso dal Minsitero dello Sviluppo Economico, ha una dotazione di circa 60 milioni di euro e l’obiettivo di sostenere i progetti innovativi basati sull’utilizzo economico dei titoli della proprietà industriale. Working together means recycling better, Italian study shows
. Researchers in Italy have proposed a new reverse-logistics model to help manufacturers manage returned electronics equipment more efficiently. EU legislation passed in 2003 requires all Member States to have an operational system for recovering discarded electronics. MY SCIENCE project builds bridges between EU R&D and young European journalists. Internetwork è un nuovo strumento promosso dalla Regione Lazio e realizzato attraverso Sviluppo Lazio, nell’ambito delle politiche a sostegno dell’internazionalizzazione del sistema economico-produttivo laziale. La Commissione europea adotta il progetto di bilancio 2011. Call for nominations for THESEUS Award.
The award distinguishes a person with an outstanding academic record in the field of European integration, whose work contributed substantially to the progress of the state of the art, and/or demonstrates a profound comparative understanding of the states and societies of Europe, and/or has influenced academic and political debates in Europe. Disciplines covered by the award include especially – but not exclusively – history, humanities, philosophy or social sciences. The award is endowed with 5000 € and the winner will be involved into the activities of the THESEUS network. The public presentation will take place in December 2010.

Tekes Annual Review 2009. In 2009, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (TEKES) made funding decisions regarding 2,177 projects, which resulted in total investment of €579 million, of which €343 million was invested in enterprise projects and €236 million in projects carried out by universities, research institutes and polytechnics. Italia-Austria, idee di business transfrontaliero
. Il progetto Tri-ICT, coordinato da Friuli Innovazione – in collaborazione con Università di Udine e di Trieste, Lakeside Labs di Klagenfurt, Università di Klagenfurt, BIC Incubatori FVG Spa e Centro regionale servizi alle PMI (CReS) – è un progetto ideato proprio per promuovere l’avvio di collaborazioni tra imprese e organizzazioni carinziane e friulane, individuando idee concrete di business che i partner del progetto avranno poi il compito di accompagnare nello sviluppo attraverso studi di fattibilità e la ricerca di linee di finanziamento. Le imprese hanno tempo fino al 21 giugno 2010 per scaricare i moduli di partecipazione e raccontare la propria esperienza transfrontaliera oppure un’idea di collaborazione con un’impresa austriaca e diventare così protagonisti delle best practice, ottenendo visibilità e la possibilità di incontrare nuovi partner. www.tri-ict.eu

Sono scaduti i termini per la presentazione di domande al bando RIDITT 2010. Nei prossimi giorni saranno date informazioni sul numero di domande pervenute. Le esperienze sino ad ora condotte in ambito domotico confortano nella convinzione che non sia più possibile – oggi – prescindere dall’utilizzo delle nuove tecnologie informatiche, multimediali, telematiche e robotiche nell’assistenza al soggetto disabile o anziano. L’Ufficio nazionale per il servizio civile ha indetto un nuovo bando per la selezione di 177 volontari, da inserire in complessivi 35 progetti.
Il bando riguarda la Provincia autonoma di Trento (32 volontari), la Regione Piemonte (121 volontari) e il comune di Roma (24 volontari).La domanda di partecipazione in formato cartaceo, va indirizzata direttamente all’ente che realizza il progetto prescelto.
